It is extremely elaborately produced and is only available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. However, an advertising campaign temporarily invalidates this restriction for certain users. This means they can also watch the series without a Prime membership—even for free. But there are still a few things to add.
We are talking about the Amazon hit Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It is said to be the most expensive series of all time. A whopping 58 million US dollars was spent on each episode of the first season. The result has been well received, and fans have been longing for the second season since 2022. It will then arrive on Amazon Prime Video on August 29. And those responsible have come up with something to drum up some extra publicity shortly beforehand.
Promotion makes “Rings of Power” available for free
The campaign is part of the collaboration between Amazon Prime Video and electronics company Samsung. It makes the first season of the popular series available for free to Samsung TV Plus users. Samsung TV Plus is an advertising-supported streaming platform pre-installed on Samsung televisions and Galaxy devices. The app allows you to watch more than 90 TV channels on the go and at home for free; TECHBOOK has already reviewed it.
“We are delighted to have expanded our partnership with Prime Video,” reads a recent Samsung press release. This gives Samsung TV Plus users the opportunity to watch the first season of The Rings of Power for free before the second season starts on Amazon Prime Video in a few days.

Background to the offer – and restrictions
However, if you want to take advantage of the offer, you’ll have to hold out a little. The episodes of The Rings of Power, which were first broadcast in 2022 (and exclusively on Amazon Prime Video at the time), will only be available on Samsung TV Plus until August 28. Just one day later, they could theoretically jump straight into the second season. However, this would require them to take out an Amazon Prime membership, which quickly explains the intention behind the bait campaign.
Samsung could also benefit from this. “With the inclusion of the first season of Rings of Power on Samsung TV Plus, Samsung is once again demonstrating its commitment to offering free premium content for everyone,” the release states. The current promotion could play into the manufacturer’s hands insofar as the app can only be used on Samsung devices.
