Movies and series are full of memorable moments, and now fans can easily save them with “Moments” on Netflix. TECHBOOK explains how it works.
You probably remember: “No. I am your father!” from Star Wars – Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Or how about the eruption of the T-Rex in Jurassic Park? Back then, if you wanted to share exciting moments in movies and television, you could only do so by watching them together or by retelling them. Nowadays, on the other hand, everything can be quickly sent to others with just a few clicks or the “share” button on social media. And enthusiasm is at its best when you can share it. But if you don’t want the hassle of filming certain scenes with your cell phone while streaming, you can now use the “Moments” function on Netflix.
What’s behind the “Moments” on Netflix
The streaming service announced the launch of “Moments” for Netflix on October 28, 2024. This is a new function in the mobile app that users can now try out. It has already been rolled out for iOS, with an Android version to follow in the coming weeks.
With the new feature, film and series fans will be able to “easily save, relive, and share” their favorite moments. At the same time, it is also a kind of bookmark function. Once you have captured such a moment and you watch the movie or episode again later, the stream starts at exactly the right point. What happens if you save several moments in the same title was not clear in the announcement.
Simply use “Moments” on Netflix
To save a special moment, simply pause playback at the desired point or tap the screen to display the various playback options. If you have received the update, the “Moments” button will now appear at the bottom. Simply press it, and you’re done. The saved location will be saved under “My Netflix,” where you can access it again at any time.
Both when saving directly and later from “My Netflix,” it is also easy to share the corresponding passage with friends on other platforms. Whether Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, or WhatsApp doesn’t matter.

Will the “Moments” only appear with a delay?
Of course, it can be assumed that people with whom you share Netflix videos must also have a subscription. It is also still unclear whether Netflix’s “Moments” will also appear for TV apps or the browser version in the future.
Incidentally, a spontaneous internal TECHBOOK survey revealed that the “Moments” have apparently not yet been rolled out in Germany. Several people who use the Netflix app on their iPhones did not have the option as of October 30, 2024. It did not matter whether it was a standard subscription with advertising or a Premium plan. The app was up to date in all cases.
TECHBOOK contacted Netflix but has not yet received a response.
