Amazon is increasing the prices of its music streaming service, Music Unlimited, in several countries. Subscribers in the USA, Canada, and the UK will be informed of the changes by email. The new rates will apply immediately for new customers and for existing customers from March 5, 2025, or with the next renewal of their subscription.
At the moment, the eurozone is not yet affected by the price increase at Amazon Music Unlimited. However, in the past, the company has often made the first move in other countries before adjusting prices in Germany. It is, therefore, likely that Amazon Music Unlimited will also become more expensive in Germany in 2025.
What Changes are Planned
The price adjustment affects both Prime members and users without a Prime subscription, as the FAQ page of Amazon Music in the UK reveals. The new prices are also already listed on the US website. While the individual price for Prime subscribers in the USA will rise from 9.99 US dollars to 10.99 US dollars, customers without a Prime subscription will have to pay 11.99 US dollars instead of 10.99 US dollars.
The increase is particularly steep for the family subscription. This will cost 19.99 US dollars per month in the future instead of the previous 16.99 US dollars – an increase of almost 18 percent. Amazon justifies the higher prices with new functions and additional content.
New Prices for Amazon Music Unlimited in 2025
The new prices already apply to new customers; existing subscriptions will be adjusted from March 5, 2025. The respective renewal date of the subscription is decisive for the price change.
- Individual subscription (without Prime): 11.99 US dollars per month (instead of 10.99 US dollars)
- Individual subscription (with Prime): 10.99 US dollars per month (instead of 9.99 US dollars)
- Annual subscription (with Prime): 109 US dollars per year (instead of 99 US dollars)
- Family subscription: 19.99 US dollars per month (instead of 16.99 US dollars)
- Annual subscription for families: 199 US dollars per year (instead of 169 US dollars)
Until now, Amazon Music Unlimited has been cheaper than Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube Music for users without a Prime membership. After the increase, the service is at a similar price level. While Apple Music and YouTube Music will remain at 10.99 US dollars per month, Spotify will continue to charge 11.99 US dollars for its individual subscription after an increase in mid-2024. The Amazon Music Unlimited family subscription is now just as expensive as Spotify’s, while Apple Music and YouTube Music are cheaper at USD 16.99 per month.

Is Amazon also Raising Prices in Germany?
It is currently not known if and when Amazon will increase prices in Germany. We have asked the company about this. However, Amazon did not want to comment on future market developments. The answer to our TECHBOOK inquiry was generally very brief:
‘In order to maintain the high quality of service that our customers expect from us, we have to adjust our prices from time to time. Currently we have no further announcements on additional marketplaces.
So, we have to continue to speculate and look at similar past cases. In the past, similar adjustments have started in other markets. In Germany, Amazon last raised the prices for Music Unlimited in 2023. The adjustment was made in two stages: the music streaming service became more expensive for customers without a Prime subscription in February and for Prime customers in August.
A price increase for Amazon Music Unlimited in 2025, therefore, also seems likely in this country. Based on the current US prices, the monthly rates in Germany could amount to 10.99 euros for Prime members and 11.99 euros for non-Prime users.
The price increases follow a general industry trend. Streaming services are gradually adjusting their prices to cover higher costs and investments in new content. Industry experts assume that this trend will continue.
