The thriller series “The Night Agent” now has two successful seasons on Netflix. Therefore, it is no surprise that the streaming service has already renewed the series for a third season. TECHBOOK collects all the information on the upcoming episodes.
The first season of The Night Agent was an absolute surprise success for Netflix in 2023. The thriller about a secret division of the FBI was one of the streaming service’s most successful productions at the end of the year. However, fans then had to wait almost two years for season 2. What does The Night Agent season 3 look like now?
Overview
All the Important Information About “The Night Agent” Season 3
- The new episodes of the thriller series could be available on Netflix from early 2026.
- Netflix is presumably planning another ten episodes in The Night Agent season 3.
- Season 3 should follow directly from Season 2 in terms of content. Peter’s role as a double agent is likely to become central.
- No prominent departures are known yet, but new additions have already been confirmed. The main cast will return in any case, above all Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland and Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin.
- The first video already shows a fast car chase through Istanbul.
When Is the New Season Coming?
In fact, The Night Agent season 3 is likely to come much sooner than season 2, as filming has already begun. It is possible that Netflix is aiming for the usual one-year release cycle for other projects. This would mean that the new episodes could appear on the streaming platform as early as the beginning of 2026. However, Netflix has not yet revealed a specific date.
Presumably, The Night Agent season 3 will once again comprise ten episodes. This was already the case in the previous seasons. And there are rumors that Netflix is planning a big series finale, as the streaming service has recently done well with a three-season concept. So far, however, this is just a guess. Much may also depend on the success of the new season.
This is what “The Night Agent” Season 3 is About
The finale of season 2 of The Night Agent provides a clear direction for the rest of the series. However, it remains unclear exactly what will happen, as Netflix has now moved away from the original novel. Warning: here are some spoilers about the plot so far.
What Has Happened So Far
The thriller series is about the young agent Peter Sutherland. In season 1, which is largely based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk, Peter is assigned to a special kind of telephone service in the basement of the White House. Although he was able to prevent a bomb attack almost single-handedly, he is not trusted because of his father’s past as a traitor. So he sits alone by the ominous phone for nights on end – until one day it actually rings.
At the other end of the line is the talented programmer Rose Larkin. She has just witnessed the murder of her relatives, who were apparently working as agents for a secret FBI department, and she is now asking for help. Peter and Rose quickly grew into a strong team that was also very popular with Netflix subscribers.
This team also returned for season 2, in which Peter now works directly for Night Action as an agent. However, a mission goes horribly wrong, whereupon Peter goes into hiding. Suspecting a mole in the organization, he investigates on his own until Rose tracks him down.
At the end of the season, Peter involuntarily contributes to election manipulation on a grand scale in order to save Rose. To make up for his father’s mistakes and his own, he agrees to work as a double agent. In order to put a stop to Jacob Monroe, the man pulling the strings, he even has to keep his activities secret from Night Action itself.
The Plot of “The Night Agent” Season 3
The plot of the new season is likely to tie in directly with these events. Peter is presumably struggling with his new dual role, while Rose will hopefully get her career back on track. After all, she has made significant progress at AdVerse and fought for a good position in the company. Whether and how her path will cross Peter’s again remains to be seen.
What’s more, the first video has already been released, revealing the new location. In The Night Agent season 3, it’s off to Istanbul, among other places. In the video, lead actor Gabriel Basso speaks personally from the set. There is also an action sequence with several cars and motorcycles.
Showrunner Shawn Ryan also revealed a little about the new season. At the Netflix event, Tudum, he said, among other things: “We’re very excited to bring our fans new thrills, new worlds, new stunts, new characters, and new adventures in Season 3. We’ll be traveling the globe, from Istanbul to New York, from Washington, D.C. to Mexico City, and even though we’ve only just started filming, we’ve already shot some of our biggest and most spectacular stuff yet.”
