Amazon is currently testing “Buy for Me.” The new feature is designed to make purchases for customers when they cannot find what they are looking for.
Thanks to numerous online offers, the shopping experience is easier and more convenient than ever before. Instead of laborious and time-consuming rushing from store to store, only to come away empty-handed, you can find almost anything with just a few clicks of the mouse. Now, a major provider wants to take even more work off its customers’ hands: Amazon is testing “Buy for Me.” With the new function, customers no longer have to take action themselves as soon as certain circumstances arise.
Amazon Wants to Simplify Shopping with “Buy for Me”
The online shipping giant has almost everything your heart desires. However, Amazon’s product range also hits its limits from time to time, for example, in the event of delivery or production difficulties on the part of the manufacturer or if a product is simply sold out. In the event that the customer then has to look elsewhere, Amazon is now launching “Buy for Me.”
With this new function, users should be able to discover and buy products quickly and easily — on third-party websites. Unsurprisingly, this will primarily be possible for goods that are not currently available on Amazon itself. Amazon’s “Buy for Me” is currently in beta testing in the Amazon app for Android and iOS. However, only US customers can try out the feature to begin with.
How Amazon’s “Buy for Me” Works
Amazon’s “Buy for Me” uses an AI agent to ensure seamless shopping on third-party websites within the Amazon app. However, the starting point is a customer’s search for branded products. In the search results, in addition to the goods from Amazon directly and third-party sellers, they should also be able to see which brand sites they can shop separately. In some cases, the customer will be shown a link to Amazon’s “Buy for Me.”
Once you have found something suitable, click on the corresponding option. This authorizes Amazon to buy the product in the other store on behalf of the customer. You are then taken back to a familiar Amazon page to complete the purchase.
With the help of AI, Amazon transmits the relevant customer data and payment information to the external website and completes the purchase. According to an official statement, Amazon cannot see which previous and separate purchases have been made via external brand stores.

Process After Purchase
Once the order process has been completed, the customer receives a confirmation from the respective store. They can then track the status of their order in the Amazon app. Delivery, returns, and exchange of goods are handled by the brand store outside of Amazon. It is free to use, and consumers do not have to go to other websites first.
As this is a local test for the time being, “Buy for Me” must first prove itself. It is therefore not known whether the function will also come to Germany. TECHBOOK has asked Amazon about this. The company merely refers to the announcement and is not yet able to provide any information on plans in this country.
