In August, consumers will once again face a number of changes. Important deadlines are also looming. TECHBOOK summarizes the changes.
Whether it’s the tax return deadline, changes to PayPal, a new streaming service, or the launch of new smartphones – August has a lot going on for consumers in the technology sector. Below, we reveal exactly what they can expect.
Deadline for tax returns
Consumers who do their own tax return, i.e., without a tax advisor, only have until August to file. The income tax return must be submitted to the tax office by the end of the month at the latest. This year, the deadline of August 31 falls on a Saturday, so the deadline has been extended to September 2.
PayPal simplifies login
At the beginning of July, TECHBOOK reported on the changes PayPal will be introducing for consumers from August onward. New security options will then come into force to simplify the login process. PayPal is referring to a new EU directive on two-factor authentication (2FA).
The changes will affect users who set up two-factor authentication before January 1, 2021, and have been using it since then. In the future, they will be able to use not only the PayPal app for confirmation but also WhatsApp or text messages for authentication.
