Samsung has released an important security update for nine of its smartphone models. The February 2025 update fixes a total of 32 high-risk vulnerabilities and one critical vulnerability. Devices with Android 12, 13, and 14 are particularly affected. Owners of the latest Galaxy S25 models should also install the update immediately to protect their devices against potential attacks.
Samsung only rolled out an important update in January that closed 51 security gaps. Now, the South Korean manufacturer is delivering another one. The latest security update for February 2025 is being rolled out in stages and once again addresses several critical security issues. The Galaxy S25, in particular, is receiving such an update for the first time. TECHBOOK reveals which devices are affected and why installation is so important.
Samsung Security Update in February Fixes Several Gaps
Samsung regularly provides its Galaxy devices with software updates that not only bring new functions but also close security gaps. According to official information, the February update closes a total of 32 security gaps with the classification “high-risk” as well as one vulnerability rated as “critical.” Most of these problems do not affect Samsung’s own operating system but the Android operating system in versions 12, 13, and 14.
In addition, the latest security update from February fixes seven security-related vulnerabilities that only affect Samsung devices. Among other things, a vulnerability was discovered that affects smartwatches with Android 14 (One UI 6) and WearOS 5. Attackers could use these vulnerabilities to access sensitive data, such as biometric information, or install malicious software.
These Galaxy models Will Receive the Update
The update is already available and will be gradually distributed to the following Samsung devices:
- Galaxy S24
- Galaxy S24+
- Galaxy S24 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold 6
- Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE
- Galaxy Z Flip 6
- Galaxy S25
- Galaxy S25+
- Galaxy S25 Ultra
The February security update is the first official software update for the Galaxy S25 series, which was only launched at the end of January. The rollout initially began in South Korea and was later also available in other regions.
The update comprises around 585.9 MB and, in addition to the security patch, also includes optimizations for system stability. Users report that it fixes display errors in the camera’s zoom functions as well as problems with frozen apps and faulty photo views.
