September is an important deadline that consumers should be aware of. At the same time, you should make a note of a date in the middle of the month, as this is when the next nationwide warning day is due. It will be critical for Disney+ subscribers who share their accounts with other users. Below, read about these and other important changes.

Deadline for 2023 income tax return ends

The deadline for filing the 2023 income tax return for those who do it themselves is actually August 31 this year. However, as this day falls on a Saturday, the tax authorities have pushed back the deadline accordingly and granted consumers an extension until September 2.

The deadline does not apply to those who have a tax advisor or income tax assistance association to help them with their tax return. In this case, consumers have until May 31, 2025.

Changes to Disney+ account sharing

Netflix has shown the way, and Disney+ is following suit in one of the significant changes this month. The streaming service has announced that it will take tougher action against account sharing in future. The provider has already initiated corresponding measures. In the course of September, these measures will also take effect in Germany, meaning that consumers in Germany will soon need their own access to Disney+ and will no longer be able to share it with others.

Nationwide warning day

A nationwide warning day is being held again this year. In order to better warn the citizens of Germany of disasters and major events, the warning systems will be tested once a year for their range and functionality. This test is scheduled for the second Thursday in September, which falls on September 12, 2024.

On this day, all cell phones will ring simultaneously at around 11 a.m. Depending on the region, the test alarm will also be sent to televisions and radios and local warning sirens. The all-clear will be given at around 11:45 a.m., also by text or acoustic signal.

Technology trade fair and Apple event

September also traditionally marks the start of the hot phase in the technology sector after the summer break. This year’s IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) is the start of this phase. Companies from all over the world present their products there. The focus is on home entertainment, smart homes, and smartphones.

Also, next month, probably on September 10, Apple will present the next iPhone generation and iOS 18 at its keynote. There will probably also be new Apple Watches and possibly new AirPods.
