It’s like a law of nature: when a new product is released, an old one has to go. It can, therefore, be assumed that Apple will soon be removing numerous devices.
The big Apple Event 2024 will take place on September 9. This year’s edition of the annual event promises to be full of highlights again. Moreover, experts expect more exciting announcements besides the iPhone 16. However, space must also be made for new products, which is why it can be assumed that Apple will remove various devices.
Apple could remove devices – what you should know now
First, we should note that there is no official confirmation that Apple intends to remove devices. And whether this will happen at all remains unclear. However, the past has already shown that the US company likes to use this time to tidy up its product range.
This means you will no longer be able to buy various products in your own Apple Store. The company will also stop producing them in order to focus on the next generation of devices. Nevertheless, interested parties should not have any significant difficulties obtaining them for the time being, as there should still be a large amount of remaining stock in circulation.
So, if you are still considering buying an Apple product, you should at least wait for the event and only make a decision afterward.

Apple could remove these devices
Based on how the company has acted in recent years, the teams from “9to5Mac” and “MacRumors” have drawn up a forecast of the possible devices that Apple could soon remove from its store. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and it could change again after September 9. However, there are conclusive arguments as to why these iPhones, AirPods and co. could be affected.
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
This may come as a surprise at first, but Apple has only been selling flagship models through its store for one year since 2018. And with the iPhone 16 around the corner, the previous generation will almost certainly be affected, too. Those who own them can at least expect the new AI features of the upcoming software update on the Pro and Pro Max models.
The situation is completely different for the entry-level models. These are not equipped for iOS 18 and Apple AI in particular. Even though “9to5Mac” and “MacRumors” do not mention the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus specifically, it is even more likely that these will be affected rather than the Pro models.
iPhone 14 Plus
After Apple stopped selling the iPhone 13 mini in its stores in 2023 and only kept the regular iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 Plus could suffer the same fate. The basic model, on the other hand, could remain on the market.
iPhone 13
It is currently the oldest iPhone in the Apple Store’s current range. Since its release in 2021, its price has fallen several times, and now it could disappear for good.
Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and Apple Watch SE 2
Experts expect the Apple Watch 10, the Watch Ultra 3, and the Watch SE 3 to be unveiled at the upcoming Apple event. If all of these models are actually released, they would render their predecessors obsolete in terms of functionality.
AirPods 2 and AirPods 3
According to rumors, innovations are also on the horizon for the company’s range of headphones. The next generation could be launched with the AirPods 4. As they are reported to be launched in two versions – an entry-level version and a mid-range version – they would directly replace models 2 and 3.
iPad mini 6 and iPad 10
Whenever a new iPad mini was released in the recent past, the older version was then discontinued. As another iPad mini is said to be planned for this year, the iPad mini 6 could soon be a thing of the past.
For the iPad 10, however, the situation looks even more unclear. “MacRumors” apparently does not see it at risk. On the other hand, “9to5Mac” refers to rumors that a new model could be released after all. However, it is possible that Apple will continue to offer the 10 series device at a lower price.
