Anyone who would like to play old N64 games but no longer owns a console can wait for the new Analogue 3D. The device is specifically aimed at gaming nostalgics.
The current generation of game consoles around the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is more powerful than ever before and offers unprecedented immersive possibilities. Nevertheless, many gamers around the world regularly take a trip back in time when graphics were still angular and pixelated and titles fitted onto clunky cartridges. The Nintendo 64 (or N64 for short) is still very popular. Officially, the device has not been produced for a long time. But a remedy is on the way in the form of Analogue 3D, which fans should make a note of.
Analogue 3D is an N64 replica
The Analogue 3D is a new retro console that is a reinterpretation of Nintendo’s classic. So, if you want to dust off the old Super Mario Kart 64 and have hot races with friends, you can do so soon.
In fact, all old N64 cartridges should work with the Analogue 3D. No emulation is used here, but FPGA technology. This should enable the new hardware to function in the same way as the original, which should also ensure compatibility with the old cartridges.
Old games shine in new 4K splendor
Fortunately, gamers will not have to doubt their own eyesight due to blurred, ancient graphics. Analogue promises a 4K resolution for gaming evergreens, which is ten times higher than back in the mid-1990s. However, those who like it particularly old-fashioned will be able to recreate the look of an old tube TV thanks to alternative screen modes.
As with the original N64, the Analogue 3D comes with four controller connections. It will work region-free and comes with Bluetooth and two USB ports. There will also be Wi-Fi, HDMI support, and an SD card slot.

However, a controller is not included. However, if you still have an original N64 controller lying around, you should be able to use it easily. Alternatively, there is the new 8BitDo 64 controller, which can be purchased for 39.99 US dollars and, in addition to the Analogue 3D, should also be compatible with the Nintendo Switch, Windows, and Android.
As reported by The Verge, the Analogue 3D was originally due to be released in 2024, but this has come to nothing. It is now expected to be ready in the first quarter of 2025. Interested parties can place pre-orders in the Analogue store from October 21, 2024 at 5 p.m. German time. The device is available in black and white for 249.99 US dollars each.
